These look great! I've got the first two levels and she is writing a third for K/1st grade. I'm going to start WildMan in the second level that's for K3-K5 and take it slow while also doing his Heart of Dakota's Little Hands to Heaven. So, WildMan doesn't find sorting multi-colored hair ties into color coded muffin tins to be much fun anymore. Maybe he'll enjoy a little twist to the activity better. Here's what I did to organize for school. We use Heart Of Dakota, which utilizes living books instead of text books to make learning fun and effective. It's more than memorizing a list of facts or dates, it's reading real life accounts, stories, biographies,....really digging into the lesson and putting yourself there. Meet Fedor, the 5 month old American Bulldog and newest member or our family :o) He looks all cute and cuddly in the first picture, but he is a BUNCH of bulldog! We did this experiment as a Bible activity after reading about God parting the Red Sea to save the Isrealites from the Egyptians...I don't think BookWorm will ever forget it now! I don't know the science behind it, but it was awesome! Here you can see BookWorm 's map drawing skills...this shows the area where the Pilgrim's landed. This activity was done after reading about a boy on the Pilgrims' ship that almost blew it all up when he was messing with some gun powder. BookWorm loved this one! MathMan is enjoying learning to write on the dry erase board. We figured out that writing on paper is hard, but learning comes much easier on the board! He is doing wonderfully in Phonics Pathways and read his first sentences in Reading Pathways not too long ago. He's very excited to be on his way to reading! He asked how to spell these, and given 2-3 letters at a time, was able to write them!

Today, we did 2 science experiments. One to cement the idea of the use of blubber for whales and dolphins and the other to learn about ocean currents. Our family, plus my sisters and brother, mom and step-dad, and my dad were all there. We don't get to see any of them much, especially my dad and youngest sister and brother. This is our Map Cake. We baked a cake, iced it with blue icing, and cut each of the continents out (too big) with green fondant. We're learning about maps, globes, continents, oceans, cultures, and missionaries right now. This was a great project! I think we need a more in depth lesson on scale though....our continents are too big so So. America and Africa are not really within walking distance

Here's a glimpse into our little homeschool room. We've turned our formal dining room into an office/school room. Our focus this year is on Geography with a missions perspective. (That explains all the maps all over!) We'll learn about countries and cultures to get the big picture that God's word is needed all over and the world is a HUGE place.
